TIME MACHINE
‘Time machine’ is a 26,6 hour film, showing a woman wrapped in fabric, being slowly unwrapped. In order to avoid predictability, the movements take place at the pace of the Fibonacci sequence.
The Fibonacci range is an irregular range of figures, developed by Fibonacci in 1202. Each number from the range represents the specific minute in the film when the woman is unwrapped with one turn.
With the sequence being irregular, it is difficult to predict what happens when and therewith tempts people to come back at another moment to find out what has happened.
As the numbers go up, the distance between them gets bigger, which means a lot of movement in the first hours, less and less as time passes.
With the woman getting unwrapped, more and more fabric piles up on the other side. All of this represents the passing of time, hence the name ‘Time Machine’.
Besides the passing of time, it represents the idea of the liberation of women, which still requires our utmost attention.
This film shows the liberation, by giving her more freedom as the fabric slowly unwraps.
